Easy Assembly Guide

Solar Panel Hoist Assembly pieces

Preparation:

  1. Unpack all components and lay them out for easy access.

Step 1: Attach the Master Pulley

  1. Remove U Brackets: Loosen the lock nuts and remove the U brackets from the master pulley.

  2. Position the Pulley on Ladder: Place the master pulley between the top two steps of your ladder, with the pulley side facing the front.

    • The oval-shaped slots on the master pulley should be at the top.

  3. Mount the Bottom U Bracket:

    • Attach the bottom U bracket first.

    • Ensure the top edge of the U bracket touches the top of the second step before tightening to the master pulley.

  4. Mount the Top U Bracket:

    • Attach the top U bracket, making sure the top edge touches the top step.

    • Tighten all lock nuts securely.

Note: The ring bolts on the U brackets serve as anchor points to attach the Solar Coaster to your rooftop.

Step 2: Attach the Solar Coaster Cart to the Ladder

  1. Remove Cover Plate: Unscrew the 4 screws to remove the cover plate from the Solar Coaster cart.

  2. Position the Cart:

    • With the 6 bearings facing towards the ladder, position the cart facing you.

    • Place it on the inner side of the ladder.

  3. Adjust the Bearings:

    • Loosen all 6 bearings slightly to allow the bearing brackets to slide for a secure fit.

  4. Center and Fit the Cart:

    • Center the cart and fit the ladders inside edge into the U-groove of each bearing.

    • Gently tighten bearings for a temporary hold.

  5. Secure Bearings:

    • Once the ladder fits snugly in all 6 U-groove bearings, tighten them firmly.

    • Tip: Use a rubber mallet to tap bearings left or right for a snug fit before tightening.

Step 3: Attach the Rope Brake

  1. Position the Brake on Ladder:

    • Fix the quick-release clamps around the bottom step with the rope brake facing up towards the ladder top.

  2. Check Brake Clearance:

    • Test the handle to ensure it doesn’t hit the ladder when the rope is released.

  3. Secure with Safety Chain: Clip the safety chain around the step and fasten to secure the brake.

Step 4: Attach the Ladder Legs

  1. Determine Left and Right Brackets:

    • The left and right leg brackets have square tube holders at the rear.

    • The orange hand fasteners should face the front.

  2. Position Brackets on Ladder:

    • Align each leg bracket with the ladder’s bottom two steps.

    • Note: If necessary, you may need to cut the bottom of the ladder. Ensure that the bottom of the ladder is no longer than the U-channel or slightly above the orange handles for a secure fit.

  3. Attach with Threaded Rods:

    • Pass the M12 threaded rods through the steps, securing each with lock nuts (avoid over-tightening).

  4. Slide Legs In:

    • Loosen all 4 orange hand fasteners.

    • Insert one leg into each bracket from the bottom of the bracket.

Step 5: Mount the Rope Spool

  1. Measure for Parallel Alignment:

    • Measure between the inside edges of the bottom square tubes where the legs slide.

    • Ensure the measurement matches the length of the rope spool tube.

  2. Adjust Length if Needed:

    • Use washers to extend the tube if needed.

    • If the tube is too long, carefully trim for smooth leg extension (this won’t void the warranty).

  3. Secure Spool:

    • Insert the threaded rod through both legs and the rope spool tube.

    • Tighten with black hand nuts.

  4. Test Leg Extension:

    • Slide the legs up and down to confirm smooth movement.

Step 6: Weave the Rope Through the Pulleys

  1. Start from the Bottom:

    • With the cart at the ladder bottom, start with the open end of the rope (without the eye bolt).

  2. Weave Through Lower Pulley:

    • Looking down, thread the rope down the left side of the bottom pulley and back up the right.

  3. Weave Through Top Pulley:

    • Looking up, pass the rope through the left side of the top pulley and then down the right.

  4. Pass Through Rope Brake:

    • Feed the rope through the brake at the ladder bottom.

    • Tip: Raise the handle to pass the rope through smoothly.

  5. Attach Excess Rope:

    • Use cable ties to secure the excess rope to the rope spool.

  6. Attach Eye Bolt:

    • Use a hex 5 bolt and spring washer to attach the eye bolt to the top pulley for additional safety.

Final Step: Spool the excess rope securely at the bottom of your ladder.
